TOPEKA | The immigration issue is heating up in Kansas' capital.
A chapter of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps teamed with Outraged Patriots, a Tulsa group, to put up a billboard Thursday in Topeka that included the picture of a revolutionary war “patriot” and an upside-down American flag under a Mexican flag. In the middle of the billboard was this question: "Had Enough?"
After the vandalism By Friday morning, vandals had painted over part of the sign and spray painted a swastika over the American flag. Under the words "Had Enough?" the vandals had spray painted "of racism."
The billboard had been at Interstate 470 and Fairlawn Road but was taken down Friday by the sign company after the vandalism was discovered.
“Criminal charges will be pursued and a reward is being offered for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators in this matter,” said Ed Hayes, the Minuteman group’s state director.
