When a solid GOPer is in sight, Sir Charlie Cook will change it to lean R. If a Democrat is credible -- lean R. If the Demo is flawed -- likely GOP. Ask Moore if that isn't right.

The problem is there are no appealing Democratic candidates left to run in this district. Party organizations in the Midwest do an abysmal job of grooming successors, especially in moderate/Republican Districts. Democratic activists tend to be just as ideological as their Republican counterparts and therefore fail to encourage candidates who can appeal to moderate Republicans shut out by the social conservatives who have hijacked their party.

Unfortunately, the only Democrat who might stand a chance to succeed Dennis Moore is Carol Marinovich. The only problem is that she left politics several years ago and hasn’t been heard from in years. As Mayor of Kansas City Kansas she actually succeeded in combining and reforming the broken and corrupt governments of Wyandotte County and KCK, bringing in the most successful economic development program this state has ever seen. I’d help a draft Carol movement. Sadly though, we will probably get Kris Kobach.

Moore, like many poilitians of both parties, feel into an autocatalytic downward spiral. He started out relatively moderate, but then started taking left-wing PAC money, and his votes became more liberal, which resulted in more left-wing PAC money, and the votes became ever more to the left. Moore could not end the spiral because he needed the money fix. When his district was on the verge of revolt with protests breaking out in quiet sedate Jo Co he jumped. Go look at the FEC records and his vote rankings, the direct correlation is obvious.
