Kansas GOP weighs in on last night's results

Don't worry. I won't be holding my breath waiting.

NY? The total of the Republican and conservative candidates was the majority. Your putz won with 49% of the vote. NJ? Loss. Virginia? Huge loss.

People are already sick of the fact that they elected an inexperienced Communist to the White House and have allowed the socialists to take over Congress.

Next step is to clean house in Congress. Hopefully our yellow bellied socialist Dennis Moore will be out the door, free to troll the bars at his leisure without embarrassing the citizens of Kansas.

How two local races, New Jersey and Virginia, got to be about federal issues and Obama is beyond me.

But the KS GOPers are right: The fact a Democrat won a district held by the GOP for at least 144 years by only 4 points, not 5, is evidence the Democrats are on a sinking ship.

So the Dem didn't win a three-way race because the two other parties combined had more votes?

Hilarious. When GOPers and wingnuts lose they actually win.

There have been five special elections for Congressional seats this year. Democrats have won all five.

But this is undoubtedly good news for GOPers.

First, do not run away from Obama and the Public Option -- like Deeds in VA. Both of them poll at over 50%. Oddly enough, that 50+% didn't feel motivated to go the the polls & vote for him. Turnout matters.

Second, don't fund you own campaign so openly when you have been an unpopular governor like Corzine, or even a popular Mayor like Bloomberg. Four years ago, folks might accept that "I'm too rich to be corrupt" stitck. Not after AIG, etc.

And if your best argument against the other guy is that he is -- like 60% of the voters -- fat? Try he's a corrupt political prosecutor who gave a multimillion dollar no-bid federal contract to the guy who was (until forced out)his boss -- John Ashcroft?

The actual lesson is simple: Man up! Pass the Health Care bill with a STRONG public option, and do it quick. Fund it with a tax on those making over 500K. You need only raise it to 40% -- FORTY PERCENT! -- of the rate charged under that old Stalinist Dwight Eisenhower. We can live with Ike's level of "socialism".

The GOP is terrified that you will do that, because it will do what Medicare did: Assure Democratic control of Congress for a generation.

And if you don't? You will be sitting around like Mr. Deeds of Va. -- wondering why nobody bothered to go to the polls to vote for you. If you don't care, why should they?

You CANNOT count on the GOP being totally self-destructive, like in NY23.
