I was playing a game of solitaire this afternoon and I saw a red queen. I realized, for the first time, the following:

Joe Wilson is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful politician I've ever known in my life.

And, then the other red queen surfaced, and it came to me:

Glenn Beck is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful radio personality I've ever known in my life.

I started a new game, and when a red queen surfaced I realized:

Sarah Palin is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful politician to ever quit I've ever known in my life.

When I saw the second red queen, I recognized that the real problem in America is that the rich are too poor and the poor are too rich. Only two-thirds of the nation's total income gains from 2002 to 2007 flowed to the top 1 percent of U.S. households.

This is unfair because the top one percent of US households are the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful people I've ever known in my life.

We must cut all taxes to the top 1 percent because they provide the rest of us with our jobs. All income gains should have been awarded to the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful Americans.

I have no idea what I will learn when I play a third game of solitaire. Jeetz, you have opened my eyes. Thank you. Is seeing red queens the trigger that leads to your political insights?

Isn't this all familiar? Haven't we seen this all before with the tobacco industry? Big Health Insurance taken a page from Big Tobacco PR and created a false scare tactic. They both commissioned favorable research studies to reframe the debate, both staged fake grassroots "uprisings", both manipulated politicians for their own corporate gain, both created phony economic statistics, and both tried to make create a fake controversy where there was none.

I don't agree with either the time, place or content of Rep. Wilson's outburst. I have read the bill, and it clearly prohibits illegals from getting benefits. Rep. Wilson did point out in a very rude, inarticulate manner what I believe IS an Achilles' heel of the proposal -- the lack of enforcement. I heard over the weekend that Democrats are blocking proposals to require photo ID to get health care. This strikes me as downright stupid and just plays right into the hands of the Joe Wilsons of the world. Photo ID would serve to prevent fraud not only by illegals but by citizens as well (i.e., uninsured citizens getting health care by posing as someone who actually has insurance). This seems to be common sense and I cannot imagine that the majority of Americans would oppose this. And in this case, don't give me a lot of BS that the poor can't afford a $10 photo ID in order to get medical care worth hundreds of $$$.

I don't need a reporter to help me decide. I was asking for someone - other than you or your weekly mailings - who had specific lines , specific laws, specific statements that said what Wilson was claiming.

Yes, I do kind of like it to be written down, it makes it easier to read that way and since the government has been publishing bills and laws for better than 200 years I like to read what people tell me I am not understanding the way that they think I should - are you one of those people ?

To partially answer the question: one of the house bills -- HR 3200 -- bars coverage for illegal immigrants in section 246. It prohibits “Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

The issue isn't whether the section exists in this proposal. The question is whether the section is going to achieve its intended result. Most critics I've read challenge whether it provides enough verification (photo id?) and consequences if an illegal attempts to access the U.S. health care system. Most critics want I.C.E. to be immediately notified and once the "patient" is stable, they must be jailed and held for eventual deportation.

Unfortunately, the House leadership hasn't been open to amendments from the Republican membership to include stringent verification and penalty provisions.

Most believe the House leadership is well aware that the Hispanic voting bloc does not approve of these amendments. The reasons are pretty obvious.
