Former Republican State Rep. Patricia Lightner has a new website announcing her run for Kansas' 3rd Congressional District, now represented by Democratic U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore.
The Olathe conservative spent three terms in the Kansas House and worked as a government relations specialist for HSBC Bank.
She says on her website that she's running to protect liberties under threat by the Democrats.
Earlier this summer Lightner walked away with the Olathe Republican Straw Poll, earning more than twice as many votes as the nearest contender.

At least Republicans have wised up and are now using former elected officials as their sacrificial lambs against Dennis Moore...instead of their fading crop of office-holders.
