Big GOP names turning out for Tiahrt, Schweich

I wonder what a State Auditor learns from someone who can make the following observation about the release of the two journalists by North Korea:

While the United States is properly concerned whenever its citizens are abused or held hostage, efforts to protect them should not create potentially greater risks for other Americans in the future. Yet that is exactly the consequence of visits by former presidents or other dignitaries as a form of political ransom to obtain their release. Iran and other autocracies are presumably closely watching the scenario in North Korea. With three American hikers freshly in Tehran's captivity, will Clinton be packing his bags again for another act of obeisance? And, looking ahead, what American hostages will not be sufficiently important to merit the presidential treatment? What about Roxana Saberi and other Americans previously held in Tehran? What was it about them that made them unworthy of a presidential visit? These are the consequences of poorly thought-out gesture politics, however well-intentioned or compassionately motivated. Indeed, the release of the two reporters -- welcome news -- doesn't mitigate the future risks entailed.

State Department travel warnings are put out for a reason.

What the hell were they doing anywhere near North Korea? We should have left them there. I also hope we do nothing about the three idiot hikers caught in Iran.

If you're dumb enough to get caught in a country where we don't even have diplomatic ties, then why would we even want you back?

Why don't they just wear a sign, "I'm a stupid American, arrest me."

And liberal dorks are running the country. God help us.

It's showing again. Look what happened when the compassionate conservative dorks ran the country under W. Shall I start a list?

Gore's girls were dumbasses and received compassion for being dumbasses. We are still in the business of rewarding stupidity.

But in this country if you do something right and get burned, like old people who know the value of a dollar, well just suck it up.

Instead the compassion goes to the dumbasses in the form of a $750 billion bailout. The bankers were stupid, reward them. AIG was stupid, reward them.

Gore's girls were just another dumbass bailout of someone who screwed up. We need to get you idiots out of government any way we can.

And "you idiots" is anyone who supports the D.C. trough-feeders.

I'm watching Headline News at the SeaTac airport waiting on my flight home to Albuquerque.
They just reminded me that tomorrow is Obama's 200th day in office.
They were wodering how we would grade him so far...

Three categories and I'll be honest -- Social policy, Economic policy & Foreign policy.

Social policy = D-

There is none.

Economic policy = C-

There is one, but no one understands it.

Foreign policy = C

It was a B- before he allowed the government to be connected to Slick Willie bailing out his buddy Al Gore with the Ling & Lee dingbats.

On social issues, I'd grade him a C-. this is based on the attempt to reform health care. I'd score him higher if he tried to go directly to single payer. But, I realize that would have been politically impossible- so he didn't really have a chance.

His economic policy is a D. He was (and is) all talk without a real plan to effect a turnaround.

Foreign Policy is a C+. I'm not as concerned about the reporters as I am with his constant apologizing to the world. And I don't think he has the balls to deal with tough cookies like China.

As you see, we're not too far off on the grade, although we approach the subject from different perspectives.

We look at what actually exists, not the rhetoric.

Social policy = B-
Health care reform is a step in the right direction. If we can't have single Payer, we need to regulate the Ins. companies like we do the utility companies. The health industry also needs to be regulated as far as profit margins.

My wife spent three hours in the Olathe ER, was sent home after an XRay and a blood draw, and we spent 1.4 minutes with the ER doc. The bill was over $4000 for ER and Emergency physician service only. Labs and X Ray are billed separately. Highway robbery!

I think Obama is trying to increase dialogue between the races, and try to scale back the Economic Darwinism perpetrated by the "compassionate" conservatives.

However, where the hell is all the stimulus money going?

Economic policy = D
I feel like we middle class people are the victims of a giant swindle started during Bush, and continued by Obama. Other than the Pres., it seems the exact same crooks are in charge.

Foreign policy = C+
I like his overtures to Iran, N Korea and the other wingnut states Bush took a hard line on. We won't topple them, we can't afford to fight them, so we might as well come up with some sort of working compromise.

But I think Obama comes across as a little too conciliatory at times, and that backfires when you are dealing with bullies. They interpret it as a sign of weakness.

I find the condemnation of the two journalists by some here interesting. To call the two of the them dumbasses means the North Koreans had every right to arrest them (although we don't know where they were) and imprison them for 12 years. The hatred of anything Obama does requires such people to believe the crazy North Koreans.

That hatred is so deep that anything the Obama administration does must be condemned.

Although applied to other people, this joke gets to the heart of their hatred. If Obama was seen to walk on water, the Obama haters (Fox News and hate radio) would shout that Obama can't swim.

That the condemnation of getting the Americans (despite their names and Asian looks those two women are Americans) out of North Korea comes loudest from those who also question Obama's citizenship says more about the deep hatred of Obama than any true differences on policy except for one: The Obama haters can't get used to the fact that the US is lead by a person of color.

Dumbasses are all the same color, unless brain tissue comes in different colors.

Social Policy: B

I think he's sincere about health care reform and making something happen during his first term. He's also far more honest and open about race than any other president has been. It's a topic I'd think he'd like to avoid, but he handles it well.

Economic Policy: D

Hiring and retaining Tim Geitner and Larry Summers ought to be an automatic fail. These two dimwits fail to see the big picture and take drastic corrective action. There are some aspects to the stimulus bill that pull his grade up a little here.

Foreign Policy: A-

Good God, it's good to have the adults back in charge. Here's a president who understands that talking to your enemies isn't a sign of weakness.

National Security: B

He's doing the right thing on Iraq. He's mostly doing the right thing on Afghanistan. The fact the terrorists haven't "nuked" NYC as one twit here predicts means he's doing something right.
