JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is hosting a health care conference with several health care officials and Missouri lawmakers.

The all-day conference in Jefferson City today is focusing on the state’s Medicaid program, health care technology and fighting Medicaid fraud.

Gingrich was the leader of the Republican takeover of the House in 1994 and has formed the Center for Health Transformation. The center advocates more individual responsibility, technology and greater health care availability.

Besides Gingrich, Republican legislative leaders are expected to attend, along with Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster.
