Sam still won. Why is it when the truth is told about a liberal you call it sleazy Dave? Where were you when Paulie Morrison was doing the dirty deed with Wonder Woman?
but the funny thing is that he can always go back to the typical stereotypes of guns, gays, and religion. It will work everytime. In the end, that's what they are though, is stereotypes about Democrats. That race never got down to the issues, if it had it is fair to say it would have been closer. It will be interesting if someday Sam met an opponent who he couldn't use those stereotypes against.
The GOP doesn't have the brains God gave a goose. This is the party that foisted the Willie Horton ads on us, "welfare queens", "tax and spend", and "Barack the Magic Negro".
The GOP has to decide if it's going to stay "oogedy-boogedy" (hat tip to the now evolving Kathleen Parker) or if it's going to go with the "intelligence thing".
I vote for the "oogedy-boogey" because it's much more amusing and entertaining. To say nothing of the fact that it's a loser's game.
I watched all of them. I wouldn't really classify any of them as particularly sleazy. Get some thicker skin.
...you don't support gay-bashing nor abortion hysteria. That's the message of these ads. That's slime whether wearing a thin or thick skin.
I guess the points that I am trying to get across are these:
1. From what I can tell, they are accurate, bad taste, but accurate.
2. With any amount of research you could find some ads by the Dems just as bad.
3. In regards to the Graves ad, his ads 2 years ago were worse, and in reality, that was an early ad and the campaign was very clean after that.
With the weakness of the candidates that Sam has faced, why does he keep going to the slime bucket. craig, you are right to remind me of the awful things he did against Sara Jo.
His history is one of divisiveness and antipathy against finding coalitions even amongst members of his own party. A solid reason I can't stand the guy.
After the ad against Sarah Jo and the fact that this race was Roe vs. Glorioso, I expected a slimefest. But quite honestly, Graves ran a pretty clean campaign, the vast majority of his commercials were positive and just showed him and his family.
Remember, Kay had a "best friend" negative commercial on the internet, but it was so horrible that it was ignored.
It's OK to trash Sarah Palin's family, but these weenies whine and snivel when people point out what scumbags liberals are. Too bad Dole lost. That's a great ad.
I never thought about that. The left didn't have to run as many negative ads. The media did it for them.
to Sarah Palin are certainly an example, aren't they. Sometimes even more than one hateful commentary a day in his blog and that mirrored thousands of times a day by thousands of other bigoted, neo-fascist "journalists".
Are you suggesting that Yael can't be as hateful as Moveon.org?
I know that's a low standard to try and meet, but I think Kansas City's version of Der Sturmer is up to the task.
And, don't forget, Yael is trying to brown nose his bosses so he can keep his job, so he's more than willing stoop the extra mile to fit in with the other bigots like Pepper, Diuguid, Zeiman and Shelly.
Asking for money! And not for them but for organizations hit by the Madoff mess. How dare they! Here you can read it yourself and see the hate. It just seeps through this email.
====================================
Many organizations have been hit by this crisis. We're highlighting the four that MoveOn has worked closely with over the last few years. Here's a bit about each of the groups:
The Brennan Center for Justice is a nonpartisan institute that focuses on fundamental issues of democracy and justice. Their work ranges from voting rights to redistricting reform to checking presidential power in the fight against terrorism. MoveOn has worked with the Brennan Center closely in the fight for fair elections. Chip in to help them out here.
Human Rights Watch is one of the world's leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights. By focusing international attention where human rights are violated, they give voice to the oppressed and hold oppressors accountable for their crimes. Its rigorous, objective investigations and strategic, targeted advocacy build intense pressure for action and raise the cost of human rights abuse. MoveOn has worked with Human Rights Watch on campaigns to preserve the constitution and protect human rights in America and abroad. Chip in to help them out here.
Advancement Project is a policy, communications and legal action group committed to racial justice founded by a team of veteran civil rights lawyers in 1998. They have pursued critical litigation to protect voters and also support grassroots movements for universal opportunity and just democracy in the areas of education and immigrants' rights. MoveOn has worked with Advancement Project to stop vote suppression, especially among minority folks. Chip in to help them out here.
The Center for Constitutional Rights is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Founded in 1966 by attorneys who represented civil rights movements in the South, CCR is a nonprofit legal and educational organization committed to the creative use of law as a positive force for social change. MoveOn has worked with CCR to hold President Bush accountable for his unconstitutional acts, from illegal wiretaps to Guantanamo. Chip in to help them out here.
No, I'm saying that Sam Graves is a choir boy compared to some of the hit pieces by Moveon.org this past election.
Granted, Yael is doing his best to present vitriolic articles so he can get hits. But he needs to work on being nasty because I have a hard time taking him seriously.
Now the Old Hags here on Prime Buzz are nasty and Yael could learn something from them.
absolutely. Graves commercials were rather kind given the material he had to work with. I'd still love to see someone hit Whacko Woman on her Communiversity course wherein she taught women how to engage in sex with farm produce.
Pure beauty, Herbert Spencer. That made me laugh. The ex-princess mayor had egg on her face with that one.
Do you think she plans to expand the course to include livestock? Maybe a field trip to view a Hog farrowing operation? Sam Graves could probably help her out there.
But then again, finding a hog with standards that low? I don't think so.
One of my favorite all time ads was done by an opponent of Homer Capehart (decades and decades ago). Homer was a Congressthug from Inidana (Senator, or Rep escapes me). Anyhow, Homer had a picture of himself chatting with some farmers while they were examining some prize hogs. Homer decided not to use the photos, but his opponent got hold of them and created large posters with one of the pictures and the caption "Which hog is Homer."
Herb and Jeetz,
End of the year final:
1. Write a short essay of the relevance of sex, hogs, and farm produce to the political dialog. Please be specific. Use citations verifying your sources.
2. Write a short essay of how two religious, right-wing wankers came to be so obsessed with the rather odd pairing of deviant sex and abortion.
in a creepy way are usually impotent and that is all they can do is talk. It still makes me most uncomfortable when I hear men or women talk about sex in such an unhealthy way - yuck!!!!!
Now watch them come back "hags", "nookie", and all those other hilarious epithets and junior high (in the 1950s) comments.
Really, for two uber-religious old farts, they sure are hung up on sex. Through PL into the mix, and you have two very sexually repressed creeps.
...likely have a body that doesn't function.
A definition of an old hag -- courtesy of Jeetz.
Women who use the word "creep" amaze me with their ingenuity. Speaking of so 1950s...ewww!
Thanks girls. (smile)
did it ever strike you that if you're running into a lot of men who are impotent when they're around you that the problem just might not be with them?
Im fine with PrimeBuzz posting sleazy Republican ads if they are also willing to post sleazy Dem ads as well. There is no doubt that both sides run brutal and tasteless ads so lets see them all. We can collectively agree that most of our elected officials are interested in winning re-election and will do whatever it takes. We'll have a good laugh and be done with it.
As for MoveOn.org- MoveOn is a classless organization that should be shut down. Even if I didn't agree with their politics (by the way...communism failed. Get over it), their methods of pushing forward with an agenda are disgusting. By all means disagree with the War in Iraq. Its a perfectly understandable viewpoint. However, it really takes a genuine piece of $hit human being to go after David Petraeus the way they did.
Ultimately the problem is with us. Politicians run sleazy ads because they work. We don't force them to live up to a higher standard (and don't tell me Barack does because thats a lie. Nobody does). You want better politicians? Vote in the primaries and make sure the douchy ones don't win. Its really that easy.
Herbert Spencer and I do not have to insult each other's intelligence by explaining Kay Barnes and farm produce. It is documented.
Explanations are for children, because at one time I was paid to give explanations to them. If you want an explanation of what Kay Barnes has to do with farm produce, the going rate is $40 an hour.
Otherwise, the following is free.
*dumb look*
you and Herb make me uncomfortable with the unhealthy way you talk and speak of sex and evidently the way you treat and think of women. But, hey, this is a blog for all to speak as they please and if you want to continue as you are then you may but I still think both of you are creepy, whether it be 1950's or not. I'm sure the young kids would word it much more specifically than I.
But hey if you want to make yourself look like immature idiots, be my guest.
Locker room humor on teh intar-tubes? On a political blog? Attached to a highly respected publication like the KC Star!
oh noes.
Grow up guys, this is srs bidness!
First of all, I am not a MoveOn fan or supporter. In fact, their Patreus ad was one of the few things they have done I heartily endorsed. I don't think MoveOn goes far enough most of the time.
But I think the right wing is jealous of MoveOn. This organization was able to build a huge support base in a short amount of time and has incredible communication powers. They do an outstanding job of training activists and campaign workers. And their fund raising machine is nothing short of remarkable.
So instead of criticizing and demanding they be shut down, you all ought to be taking notes.
Nothing is said that Kay Barnes didn't bring upon herself long ago. You can't make up that crap. Or Sebelius for that matter. They both brought it on themselves.
And if anyone is infantile and creepy it is you old women trying to force your "so-called civil" views on others. You old hags are anything but civil.
I imagine your men are happy you're here so they don't have to deal with you. I should send them a bill for putting up with you. (smile)
Your infatuation with our personal and sex lives is sick. It also has no relevance whatsoever to any topics posted here.
But like I said, please continue making yourself look like a perverted idiot. It only helps those you disagree with.
Jeetz:
If I disagree with you ol' girls, that pretty much sums up our differences.
My darlings:
...ok, but, but, but. It's the WAY you disagree, Jeetz.
Jeetz:
Ok, if I complied...
My darlings:
...but, but, but. You don't really mean it Jeetz.
Jeetz:
And if I meant it...
My darlings:
...but, but, but. You didn't say it with a smile Jeetz.
Jeetz:
And if I said it with a smile as I usually do...
My darlings:
...but, but, but. You keep talking about our sex life.
Jeetz:
And if I don't...
My darlings:
...but, but, but. Don't you think we're pretty, Jeetz?
Jeetz:
And if I disagree and say you are...
My darlings:
...but, but, but. You don't mean it Jeetz. You know you don't.
Jeetz:
...oh good grief you old hags.
My darlings:
ah, I guess we prefer you that way Jeetz.
Jeetz:
Well, duh?
Jocoguy,
You beat me to it, and probably stated it better than I could.
I will just say that I echo your thoughts exactly regarding Moveon. They truly cater to the lowest common denomonater of any mouth breathing life force.

Associating "sleaze" with Sam Graves is too obvious...
...he has made a career out of sleazing his opponents, and then doing nothing for his constituents.
Nevertheless, Sam Graves didn't win this last election. Kay Barnes failed to engage and was clearly the worst candidate of the two...
Sam didn't need to sleaze Kay Barnes or any of his other opponents. It's just a character flaw he can't help.
