Former Kansas Attorney General Bob Stephan said he hopes everyone - including those of us in the media - can move on now that two special prosecutors investigating the conduct of former AG Paul Morrison have announced they won't file charges.
"How much does a guy have to pay for a mistake of personal proportions?" Stephan said this morning. "You can beat a dead horse forever but for what purpose?"
Stephan said he didn't expect much from the special investigation into allegations that Morrison harrassed his former employee/mistress Linda Carter and meddled with Johnson County DA Phill Kline's office - "because I knew that Phill Kline was the one who made the appointment."
Kline called for the investigation and picked the special prosecutors, Timothy Keck and his law partner Robert Arnold III. On Wednesday the pair announced that after several months of investigation, they were not going to recommend any charges.
"I have to give those two laywers a pat on the back for integrity," Stephan said, because they didn't push for charges they didn't feel were warranted.
As for Morrison, Stephan said "Paul deserves the right to go on and lead his life now" and that more discussion of the scandal that prompted his resignation "only hurts his family."

And this old hack's
comments are newsworthy because?
Kline reached out to this weasel during his administration and Stephan stabbed him in the back as a reward for Kline's kindness and respectfulness. Obviously Stephan relates to Morrison's misconduct more than he relates to Kline's honesty. Up yours, Bob.
