Between Funkhouser and the STAR, there are more unfilled journalism jobs in KC than any other part of the county.

that said something like: You never realized that when you voted for the Funk that you were going to get Siamese twins. I thought that was clever. I hope the Funk and the Council can get their acts together for the sake of the people of KC - the people are really losing their patience with everything that has occurred for months now.

I have had some serious occurrences happen in my life where I would have every right to sue and yet I just do not believe in it and it is probably in part because I was a property and casualty insurance underwriter for years and saw how people would sue on fraudulent claims and also how they would inflate claims - all resulting in higher costs for all.

Many times you have the right to do something but you need to look at the big picture and ask yourself if this action will help all or even really help you in the long run. Guess that is why the Bible tells us to always turn the other cheek but sometimes it is very difficult to do.

Here is an article coming thru the Dallas Business Journal. The residents there are evidently getting tired of getting hit with he costs. I really admire these residents - it would not be easy to get 60,000 signatures. Take heed KC - many still want a big hotel I think in your downtown district. So many Mayors it seems are just cheerleaders and don't have an ounce of fiscal responsibility to them. Here is article:

Mayor Tom Leppert spoke about the proposed convention center hotel to the Exhibit Designers & Producers Association at the City Club Friday afternoon.

Members of the EDPA are generally in favor of building a new hotel, said James Zacharias with Brumark Flooring Solutions, who is also president of the organization.

“The whole goal is to strengthen our community and expand and grow our industry locally and regionally,” said Zacharias, who added that the city is losing larger trade shows and conventions to cities with hotels connected to their convention centers.

Plans for the hotel, which is projected to cost about $500 million and be funded by revenue bonds, have been protested by “Citizens Against the Taxpayer-owned Hotel.” The group presented a petition with 60,000 signatures to the city four weeks ago to place the issue on the May 2009 ballot. The petition was certified on Friday.

“Today is a victory for the Dallas taxpayers,” said Anne Raymond, spokesperson for CATOH. “The individuals being asked to assume all the risk and cover the losses are now guaranteed a voice in this process.”

Leppert said the hotel will be a positive for the city, region and state.

“In the end, this doesn’t have anything to do with a building,” Leppert said. “Are we going to step up and say we are going to be competitive?... If we turn our back on this, then basically we’re throwing in the towel and putting up the white flag.”

fighting like these residents in Dallas and the fight is going to have to continue unless you don't mind going to the poor house. Citizens in this KC area better be getting their heads on straight and taking some action and not leaving it up to the good ole boys to take care of your best interests because it ain't gonna happen in my opinion unless you start dealing the cards.

These people are not representative of most Kansas Citians. They are down right freaks. Should you have the chore of interviewing them, please relay to this mayor that roughly 75% of actual residents of this city want him to resign effectively immediately. A recall effort is not an impossibility and our AG-elect Chris Koster may prove invaluable in helping us rid the office of these slackers

The Wall Street Journal should pin down Gov.-elect Nixon and AG-elect Koster to find out why the insider dealing in KC City Hall never became a campaign issue? Nixon has the authority to start the process of removing Funkhouser now, but he refuses to use it. Koster could go on the record as to whether he intends to initiate a nepotism charge when he takes office, but he will not speak ill of Mark Funkhouser.

Neither of these puppets will act in the public interest because they, like Mike Sanders, belong to James B. Nutter Sr. and Nutter also owns Mark Funkhouser.

As long as we have an urban boss like James B. Nutter calling the shots for Missouri, the state and the Democrat Party are doomed to failure. Just look at the failure to win back the Missouri House this year under Nixon and Nutter's leadership. We could have won the House and had a local leader elected as Speaker.

IF the Wall Street Journal digs into Nutter and his control fo KC politics, then they will have the biggest political story since the fall of Tom Pendergast. Mark Funkhouser is only a poster boy for Jim Nutter's boss rule. The embarrassment of Funkhouser is only possible because democracy in KC is subject to Jim Nutter's whims.

So it shall come to pass, as it was written.

On the condition that the Council is subject to a recall vote as well.

take an interest in our local news since The Star's fired mostly Indians and kept mostly the chiefs.

Here's an idea, publish a newspaper with real live local news that has no bias. Get rid of the entire editorial page. We've got enough opinions and too damn little information to base them on.

One point I would make is to say good-bye to Lee Judge. We never agreed on virtually anything, but at least he never censored me on his blog like that weanie Lewis Duigiud did on Midwest Voices. Take care, brother, I hope you land on your feet.

Isn't it about time to end the Zieman/Brisbane mismanagement of this rag and get someone who actually has the paper's interests at heart and not his own personal agenda?

for a newspaper that is politically correct only when it espouses your views or thoughts. It ain't going to happen, Herb, if they are any kind of paper. I want the news based on facts but I also want the news and issues discussed based on varied views. I don't think you ever are expanding your mind if you only expose yourself to your own narrow world. If I had not exposed myself to varied viewpoints then I would not be the person I am today - I think LISTENING to the thoughts and cares of others is opening your mind to solutions and not problems. Sure wish more of our leaders would practice listening and maybe we could have a better chance of peace and a better world overall.

I want reporters to write about what they see in front of them, fairly and objectively. I can tell you that the reporters at this joint are a higher class of people than the weasels that run it.

They're more interested in sitting around the River Club like a pack of big shots and pimping for the latest scams the local establishment comes up with. Rather than speaking the truth to power, The Star does its best to silence those voices - on both sides of the equation.

You, also, have the option of going to your own River Club with your friends and discussing issues and determining how you can spread your ideology. You still have your freedoms, Herb, but you shouldn't try to take those same freedoms away from others who disagree with you or tell a different story.
