Twice this morning your humble reporter tried to break wide open this veep watch stuff, and twice we were rebuffed.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, widely mentioned as one of the handful of "finalists" on Obama's VP nominee list, was typically tightlipped when asked about it twice today.

The first occasion came after an appearance at a Topeka high school this morning where Sebelius talked about a student contest to design airplanes. Afterward, Sebelius quickly walked by reporters without answering questions, other than to say she was headed to Iowa, where she'll campaign for Obama.

The second came as she boarded a plane for said Iowa trip at a Topeka airfield. This time Sebelius was a little less reticent, joking with the reporters who came to see if Sebelius would drop any hints.

When one reporter mentioned that she could end the agony of the VP speculation right there on the tarmac, she laughed.

"I'm not in agony," she said. "Are you in agony?"

She then offered her standard no-comment comment.

"Every question on timetable (of the announcement) and who the choice is will come from the campaign," she said.

When a reporter asked her what she made of the all the attention being given to her and what it said about Kansas, she said:

"I like anything that puts Kansas in a positive light," she said.

And with that, Sebelius got on her plane and headed to Iowa. Her official schedule - always open to change - has her back in Topeka tomorrow for a 1 p.m. speech.
