She has yet to tell us what is untrue about any of these ads.

Its her record, so if its sleazy, its because she is sleazy.

Barnes must be thanking Graves for spending his money to show everyone how slimy he and his BIG-time (and I do mean BIG!) political consultant can be!

Hey Jason 22, I have been getting robo phone calls starting in March from some group "Working Families" attacking Mr. Graves. The group has ties to the sleazy Steve Gloryhole who is Barnes' manager. Big City Mayor Kay Barnes was on the cover of the magazine. Why is that shameful? Another thing is nobody north of Platte City reads the Star anyway.

Notice how quiet everyone is about the lawsuit won by the municpal judge last month? Kay Barnes did not want this qualified woman to be a judge because she was not a minority. The woman judge won the 2.1 million dollar lawsuit.

The KC Gay Pride Club most likely appreciates the free publicity.

There are easily a dozen more relevant ads he could have cut. All of them on Barnes and how she ran KC. None of them would have to mention the word "gay" or "San Francisco" once.

I'm wondering if Graves is underestimating the intelligence of his constituents, if he really is that stupid, or both.

There is no "Kansas City gay pride club." There are several gay political clubs, but none of them have that name. I'm amazed that Jeff Roe doesn't know that "gay pride" is an event usually celebrated in June to mark the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York. ... Or perhaps Jeff is just playing dumb so no one gets suspicious that he might be ... you know ... that way.

I was hoping that Graves wouldn't use this tactic. Barnes has enough baggage without this.
But while we are at it, Glorioso did start this a couple of months ago with his "best friends" ad on YouTube.

Did she not go to San Fransisco to raise money from Nancy Pelosi and her friends?
Does she not support gay marriage and other gay rights issues?
Does she not support illegal immigrants being allowed to stay in the US?
Does she not support abortion rights?
Did she not support a gas tax increase and multiple tax increases?

Any Barnes staffer brave enough to answer?

Oh wait, you mean the "Barnes Staffer" comment? Sorry, that's not me. I don't live in the district, and I don't have a horse in the Sixth District race. Both candidates are equally bad.

Sam Graves is pretty hung up on the "gay" thing. Two ads on the same theme in two weeks?

I think he protests too much.

You mean she supports something that's illegal in Missouri? That's not very law abiding, Kay.

That would make her no different than Phill Kline who wants to end something that's legal.

I think Sam should run with that comparison.

I also agree with the previous comment that there is no "Gay Pride Club" in Kansas City. The idiots creating this commercial should have gotten it right when they showed the Gay Pride 2006 cover of the magazine, Camp, and it stated, "Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes. Serving the community with Pride." The statement said "community", not "gay community". Kay Barnes served Kansas City as she will serve the 6th District if elected to Congress.

And as far as I know, I do not believe Kay Barnes has ever issued a formal statement on gay marriage or same gender marriage, pro or con.

As publisher of Camp I was involved with the photo shoot and creation of the Pride 2006 cover. Mayor Kay Barnes was a great civil servant allowing us to create a fun "June Cleaver" type image for a three day Pride festival event that draws over 30,000 people annually and contributes to the Kansas City economy. She should be commended for that but the Sam Graves campaign obviously would rather twist the public service of Kay Barnes to their agenda.

Councilwoman Beth Gottstein is on our 2008 Pride cover and was proud to do so. People need to get out of the dark ages and stop using gay people as their pawns in attack ads.

I'll check back over the weekend in case anybody finds a statement in either ad that is inaccurate. "I don't like this ad" doesn't cut ice. It's what people say when they're losing votes, but have nothing relevant to say.

The ad has already been proven inaccurate because it cites a non-existant "club."

Nice try, though. Thanks for playing. Please pick up your consolation prize of an inflatable love sheep on your way out the door.

A small reality check is how to spell "non-existent." Equally irrelevant is that there isn't a thing -- if you say -- called "The Gay Pride Club, Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri."

Now, let's address matters that will count with voters. Barnes is a liberal Democrat with proper credentials, including money from San Francisco and Pelosi; doted on by the Star, like Karen McCarthy (they can pick Congress members, no?); urban liberal Mayor; likes higher gasoline taxes; big fave of gay rights advocates and groups.

Reality checks, two. 1) Barnes is a Politically Correct liberal. This means she supports same-sex marriage, which is liberal Democrat dogma. Barnes doesn't want voters to know her position because it is (far) out of step with the overwhelming majority of voters. Also liberal dogma is her affection for higher gasoline taxes. (The catechism reads, "...people use too much. it's killing the planet. higher prices are good. they already pay $X for gas in Paris and Tokyo ...") 2) Graves is a conservative. On same-sex marriage, this means he believes that elected legislatures, not judges, should make marriage and family law. It also means he will vote No on same-sex marriage as a legislator.

Is any of this hard to follow? Barnes backs same-sex marriage. It's a reason gay rights advocates like her. She is hiding out because her position hurts her politically. She likes higher energy prices because Al Gore told her your "carbon footprint" is too big.
