McCain should follow suit and retract his embrace of Hagee.”

Today Donohue noted that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee expressed disappointment that he hadn't received Hagee's backing.

“If Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama were fighting over the support of Louis Farrakhan, we’d say they’re nuts," Donohue said. "So what are we to conclude about McCain’s embrace of Hagee, and Huckabee’s lament for not getting the bigot’s endorsement?"

McCain has an alarming tolerance for his shady lobbyist and bigoted bible-beating buddies. They're A-OK until the press (finally) starts paying attention.

The Rev. Rod Parsley is just as nutty as Hagee, maybe even more so. How long before McCain rejects and denounces his "spiritual adviser"?

And, yes, wingnuts, neither Parsley nor Hagee is McCain's pastor. But he spent more than a year courting these two nutjobs for their endorsements so he's appear more "conservative." He actively wants to be affiliated with the crazies. I don't know how that makes it any better.

I agree with Interface. So it OK to accept the good pastor when he call the Catholic Church a cult and "the great whore". That's fine. But we can't offend the Jewish vote, so now he's out of bounds and renounced. McCain, as a Catholic, I'll forgive you, but I won't forget.

Any Catholic considering voting for this pandering, flip-flopping, old man that accepts Hagee and his bigoted garbage as long as it only dealt with Catholics needs to seriously think about why McCain is even a viable option. He's not.

Prime example of why church and state need to be separate. The public has allowed the Repubs to get away with the deception they are the only party whose members have the market cornered on family values, religion, and what it takes to get to the next place. Now they'll try to minimize it all. By virtue of their endorsements both these "pimps" should have the not-for-profit" status of their megachurches revoked. Remember, everybody talkin' 'bout heaven ain't goin' there.

McCain starts by calling the religious fruit loops "agents of intolerance." Then he courts their endorsement and turns a blind eye to their anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, anti-gay rhetoric because it will play well with the nutjob base. Now he's back to basically calling them "agents of intolerance."

And this after he dumps half his campaign staff for being lobbyists. This just makes him look like a very confused old man.

Our good friend Rogue is performing a valuable service here. He is providing us with examples of the real hatred that exists in the wider community toward Obama.

The hatred exhibited by Rogue is not going away and will get even more irrational has the election gets closer and McCain losing.

McCain is going to have to figure out how he keeps the votes of people like Rogue, but doesn't make the appeal to them so blatant that he turns off people who really are rational. I don't he can do it.

The memo McCain put out on why he doesn't support the Webb bill for benefits to our veterans show that McCain often loses his bearings. Of course, it was more important for McCain to be a fundraiser in California than cast his vote to deny veterans the same benefits WW II veterans got.

The Constitution specifically forbids any religious test fo office.

So, no matter how nutty the ministers are on your side or the other guy's,we still have to talk policy, not theology, folks.

Of course, if I had to choose from the bunch, I'd go with Rev. Wright. He may occasinally wander off on a rhetorical florish without benefit of brain while criticizing an morally-flawed government, but he does not preach hate of his fellow citizens, or seek to replace science classes with Genesis or The Bill of Rights with Leviticus. Nor does he think that a third World War would be a sign of divine love.

Frankly, I am not sure the world would not be a better place if all those folks who claim so to look forward to the Rapture went ahead and got themselves raptured, and left the reat of us in peace.
