Republican senator, Kit Bond, is the king of pork for Missouri's highways. (The man has a bridge named after him after all! Update: Esteemed colleague Brad Cooper says the man has two named after him.)

So Prime Buzz was curious what he thinks of Republican nominee John McCain's proposed summer gas tax holiday. Some critics say halting the 18.4-cent gas tax for more than three months would save motorists lots but deprive the nation's highway funds by $8.5 billion in critically needed funds.

Bond tells Prime Buzz he opposes McCain's gas tax holiday.

"I don't see how cutting funds to fix bad roads and fight congestion helps families," he said in a statement. "We should fight pain at the pump by tapping oil reserves just waiting on us on our own lands and off our own shores, as well as expanding the ability of American workers to produce more fuel efficient, hybrid and plug-in cars."
