How come she wasn't on top of this prior to the announcement? Too busy campaigning for Obama?

There are many, many ways for the rest of the world to punish the United States, and this is one of them. The world is sick and tired of our warmongering ways and our continnual bullying. We have raped the world for its labor, raw materials, and societal conciousness, and it's time to stop.

The U.S. is slowly becoming a third-rate economic power simply because we chose to export all of our manufacturing ability and technology is pursuit of "always the low price...always." It will never come back here. We are paying the price today for years and years of arrogant, self-centered, jingoistic behavior, and it can only get worse.

Thank you Air Force for sending a wake-up call to America, but it is likely to be too little too late. Most head-in-the-sand Americans are too busy thinking about buying their next big-screen TV instead of minding their business at home.

Boeing deserves no explanation; the best company with the best product at the best price won. Isn't that the essence of capitalism?

We base our bids on lowest and best. Isn't airbus a French owned company? Has France been supportive and friendly to the U.S.?

Boeing is a good community partner and provider of good jobs. In this case the "best" test was not met.

"Friendy Fries" or jobs at home. Which is more productive?

The market decides kclifetimer, not you and your simpering "patriotism." It's business in the big leagues...would you have your taxes raised simply to support the second--place bidder?

No crash, what I would prefer is not to have my taxes raised to pay for more people unemployed.

In a perfect world I would like to know that overseas bidders are not winning because they do not pay a living wage or produce goods in unhealthy enviroments unlike what we expect here at home.

This is not business for business sake, its our economy.

Do we have an inferior product? No

Was it the lowest and best bid for the U.S? NO

Add the impact of unemployment and tell me who the low bidder is.

This was a short sighted decision.

Let the market do its work and quit crying about "our economy." Our economy is imploding for far greater reasons than any "short-sighted decision."

I'm sure all those unemployed people (or is it the people who might have been hired and now won't be?) will whine "VICTIM!" and demand that the government bail them out. Sad sacks for sure.

I happened to be in Washington when this first hit the committee and the chatter in the halls was that the U.S. was dangling this contract in front of the French to get them in line with the U.S. on Iraq. True or false? I can't be certain but Boeing deserves better than to be cut out in order to stop the foul mouthed French from bad mouthing us as usual.

The discussion about the superiority of the Boeing product was also undisputed at the time. This was over a year ago and the French company was throwing out that they might build a manufacturing plant in the U.S. if they got the contract. I haven't heard anything about that being part of the deal yet.

Anyone who puts an iota of worth to "chattering" in the halls of Washington while they "happened" to be there is either ignorant, stupid, or naive.

Which are you kclifetimer? All three it appears to me.

Get over it. The deal is done. The best company with the best product at the best price was chosen.

That's what capitalism is all about.
