The absurd effort to recall Mayor Mark Funkhouser has fallen on hard times. Heck, it's over.
The organizers (and I use that term loosely) of the recall say they won't move forward, partly because people seem to want to give Funkhouser more time to carry out his agenda.
The petition drive started off poorly: The original recall papers listed voters who weren't registered, thus making that recall effort invalid.
Once the organizers filed the proper paperwork, they almost immediately announced they wouldn't be out on Feb. 5 to collect voters' signatures during the Super Tuesday elections.
That was a telling, and unproductive, move: That was the perfect day to seek the support of registered voters who showed up at the polls for a hot presidential primary in Missouri.
It was obvious then that the recall petitioners didn't want to put forth the effort to collect almost 17,000 registered voters' signatures needed to force a recall election.
This was the second bit of recent good news for people who think Funkhouser has the chance to right his mayoral ship.
Last week, Funkhouser put forward a responsible plan calling on City Manager Wayne Cauthen and the staff to give elected officials tough options in reshaping the city budget.

the gang that couldn't shoot straight
Putting aside that you should have better things to write about (like the ongoing saga of the missing and unaccounted for campaign funds which you have tried to make go away but never really reported on), would you call this collection of inept losers "the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight" "the Gang That Was Too Lazy To Shoot At All" or "the Gang That Got It's 15 Seconds of Fame" ???
